3A

My first real entrepreneurship experience was in freshman year. I lived in Infinity Hall; the building has a coworking space, an area where entrepreneurs work. I joined the community as an intern for a company called GuestBox. GuestBox sells amenity boxes to five-star AirBnb’s hosts. Through this experience I learned about minimizing costs as much as possible, raising funds, creating social media content, and marketing a new company. Outside of my internship, I saw the entrepreneurs in the coworking community struggle to gain traction but other companies succeed beyond expectations within months and moving to larger locations. It was incredibly interesting being in this space that showed me the process of being an entrepreneur.

I enrolled in ENT 3003 to cover my restricted elective requirement. I am a Business Administration major which requires 11 credits of restricted electives. I decided to enroll in this course for two reasons: I had previous experience in the area and it sounds more interesting than taking a financial course. I hope to gain from this course the ability to open my mind more like an entrepreneur because if you do it successfully you can make a lot of money.

This picture is an example of a co-working space. Usually, the companies that participate in these type of spaces have 1-5 employees. Overall, the environment is casual but productive.

  1. Hi Megan,

I'm very surprised that your first real entrepreneurship experience was at a young age. Doing an internship as a freshman can be hard because our knowledge at that age is limited. It seems that you overcame your obstacles and ended up succeeding as an intern for GuestBox. I'm also a Business Administration major like you and I also enrolled in this course for the restricted elective requirements. It seems we share the same goals we seek to accomplish in this class. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Hey Megan,

That is pretty awesome that you already were able to get an internship as a freshman. The more internships and experience you have on your resume, the easier it will be to get a job upon graduation; not to mention the connections you are also likely building. Also, you should look into making Entrepreneurship your minor since you seem to enjoy it so much. Depending on the business electives you've already taken, you'll only be required to take an extra course or two.
